1. Who is eligible to enroll for "Starr Critical Illness Care"?

It is available for Hong Kong citizen or resident holding valid Hong Kong identity document and living in Hong Kong not less than 180 days yearly.

2. What is the age limit for "Starr Critical Illness Care"?

For Adult: Age between 18 to 50 years old at new entry and renewable up to 69 years old.
For Child: Age between 6 months to 17 years old at new entry and renewable up to 17 years old.

3. Is the Insured Person required to pay the co-payment or deductible?

Insured Person does not need to pay for the co-payment or deductible.

4. What is the minimum sum insured and maximum Sum Insured of "Starr Critical Illness Care"?

The minimum sum insured is HK$100,000 per adult, and the maximum sum insured is HK$300,000 per adult.

5. Is there any restriction on the number of children?

No. There is no restriction on the number of children. If "You and children plan" or "Family plan" is selected,, all eligible children under the age of 18 will be covered and insured children can enjoy up to 50% of adult's protection.

6. Can I pay by monthly instalments?

Applicants can choose to pay by monthly installments or a one-off annual payment.

7. Does premium increase with age?

No. This product adopts level premium payment schedule where premium is charged based on the policyholder's entry age at the policy inception date, renewal premium remains at entry age bracket regardless of age increase.

8. Will my policy automatically renew?

Yes. It will auto-renew upon Anniversary Date.

9. Can we change the plan level after purchasing "STARR Critical Illness Care"?

By giving 30 days' written notice before anniversary date, you may request to change the plan type. For changing the one to a higher level, you are required to apply a new application and the premium shall be charged based on your attained age. Pre-existing condition will be revived at the effective date of such new application. For changing the one to a lower level, the premium shall be computed based on your entry age at Policy Inception Date.

10. Is there any waiting period for "Starr Critical Illness Care"?

The waiting period for "Starr Critical Illness Care" is 90 days.

11. Is there any survival period for "Starr Critical Illness Care"?

The survival period for "Starr Critical Illness Care" is 7 days.

If the diagnosis of COVID-19 is confirmed within 7 days after returning to the Hong Kong port, we will cover the medical expenses incurred within 30 days from the date of diagnosis.

9. If the insured person needs to claim medical expenses due to the diagnosis of COVID-19, is the insured person required to get a doctor's consultation on board before the completion of the cruise trip?

No, it is not compulsory to consult a doctor on board.

10. When making a claim for medical expenses related to COVID-19, what proof does the insured person need to provide?

The insured person needs to provide a copy of HKID card, proof of getting on board, the original medical receipts and reports.

11. What should the insured person do if she/he loses the personal luggage/identification documents/credit cards or other personal belongings on the cruise ship?

The insured person should notify the cruise staff on board immediately and request a letter from the cruise company about the lost property.

14. When making a claim for trip cancellation due to the situation mentioned in question no. 13, what proof does the insured person need to provide?
